FEBRUARY 2016 NEWS

Wadi Foquin speakers head to Washington, DC this month

On Feb. 23, representatives from Wadi Foquin will meet face to face with congressional staffers at a Capitol Hill briefing to tell how Israeli military control is destroying their community and to suggest ways US policy can effectively address injustices and hostilities there and throughout the region. Speakers will include Mayor Ahmad Sokar and Dr. Kifah Manasra from Wadi Foquin, along with Shukri Radaydeh, director of the Bethlehem Governorate. They will be joined by Rev. Dr. Susan Henry Crowe, General Secretary for the United Methodist Church General Board of Church and Society. Through the Friends of Wadi Foquin partnership, the United Methodist Church has been assisting this predominantly Muslim village since 2009 with economic initiatives and justice advocacy. This is the third briefing that Friends of Wadi Foquin has organized since 2012.

TAKE ACTION!

Help us generate participation for the Feb. 23 briefing by taking these 3 steps:
1.  Call and/or email your district and DC congressional offices for both House and Senate and ask for the foreign affairs staff.
2.  Briefly explain the situation in Wadi Foquin and the partnership with the United Methodist Church. Email the briefing announcement (downloadable at left).

3.  As a constituent, urge them to attend the briefing and let us know their response.
